Not a bookend exactly. I use one of my office shelves to organize things, and have never had dividers that worked for me.
Like I said, not a bookend. I don't think it's strong enough to actually support a ton of books. But on my shelf they give me nice little separations of space, with room for a label.
The 'clip'/label part is meant to slide over the edge of a shelf. It's sized to be snug on my shelf (19mm) so they don't slip around on me.
NOTE August 2020: Well, catastrophic failure due to heavy books has led me to design something that could be stronger. It's still not a bookend, in the sense that the 'angled' side faces the 'inside' and the 'straight' side faces the outside. I might be persuaded to do it the other way, but this fit more with the way these things work on my shelves.
There are now two files, the simple divider one, and the newer, stronger one.
