This scar of churned earth marks the last refuge of soldiers who refused to yield. Wind howls along the low walls, carrying the ghosts of shouted orders and clashing steel. Under alien stars or stormy fantasy skies, warriors still slip into its shadowed hollow, hoping the shallow trench will be enough to keep death a few steps farther away.
