I have made a little 'suitcase' with some necessities for working with electronics;
soldering iron, helping hands, small multimeter and power supply.
To provide a voltage to projects, i use a DC-DC stepdown converter (also 'buck' converter).
The stepdown converters are supplied with 24V so i can can set the output to 1..24V DC.
The stepdown converter for this project; search for "LM2596 Step Up/Down DC-DC Converter Power Module With Digital Display"
It features a pushbutton which enables you to monitor the input or the output voltage.
I have made a button to go with this case to still being able to operate that button.
Also, the two LEDs indicating 'input' or 'output' are ported to the front of the casing.
I did this using a small piece of 1.75mm clear filament which transports the emitted light to the front of the casing, works superb!
The stepdown converter has a micro potentiometer which should be replaced by a 10K ohm normal pot.
I left the screwconnectors for both
