This is a fairly simple manual 5-stage encryption tube. This device can scramble a short message that can only be decoded with the proper passcodes. It also has an optional custom cylinder for those who don't want to use the default model.

By entering 2 passwords, vertically rearranging the numbered cylinders and turning the central protruding ring on each cylinder, the user can trace from top to bottom, or vice-versa, to transmute each character by matching the characters on the edges of each cylinder.

This design is partly modeled off the simple but surprisingly effective Enigma machine used during WWII until the German naval machine was cracked by Alan Turing. This version, however, is purely a mechanical rather than an electro-mechanical cypher, so it smaller but slower, and could even potentially be shrunk to fit in one's pocket.
