Adaptor to allow cylindrical suppressor capacitors in a vintage UK Singer sewing machine button-style motor controller (Simanco 198997) or similar to be replaced with a modern rectangular equivalent.
Original pedal uses two axial-lead 40nF "Metalmite" capacitors to suppress radio interference, which can fail short-circuit and cause phantom motor running even when the pedal button is not depressed; a single rectangular X2 class 100nF capacitor rated to 250V or higher makes a suitable modern replacement. This adaptor allows such a capacitor with an 18x6mm footprint and height of 12~13mm to be easily clipped into the existing mountings in the controller casing, and then soldered to the existing capacitor leads, without floating loose and potentially fouling the carbon pile mechanism.
