Martin Krzywinski has made a [wonderful collection of snowflakes](http://mkweb.bcgsc.ca/snowflakes/flake.mhtml) generated using the [Gravner-Griffeath simulation algorithm](http://psoup.math.wisc.edu/papers/h2l.pdf). But the snowflakes are just 2D images.

You can now convert his 2D snowflakes into STL files using [this javascript webpage](https://arpruss.github.io/pyflakes/js/snowflake.html). You will need the snowflake name from Krzywinski's site, and it will then pull the data from his site and generate an STL file.

The sample STLs attached here are all generated with 8 levels. Beyond that, the STL files are likely to be too big to be very nice.

I also made a [Python script](https://github.com/arpruss/pyflakes) (run gravner_griffeath.py with pypy for speed) that does the full Gravner-Griffeath simulation if you want to vary the parameters. The script generates both STL and SVG files.

**Update:** Martin has added a link to my STL generator from each of his flake pages.
