Speed Feed 400 Insert

This is a replacement insert for the Speed Feed 400 string head from an Echo SRM-266 String Trimmer. The Speed Feed 400 is/was standard on all Echo and Shindaiwa straight shaft string trimmers. (weed eaters or weed whackers).

This model is based on a 3D scan of an original OEM part. The original parts are pot-metal zinc and protect the plastic housing of the tools from the string. Printed in PLA, this is not a long-lived part, but it does work and will keep your trimmer head (a $30 part) operational. At 100% infill it only uses 3g of PLA filament. High-End or specialty filaments with embedded carbon, glass, or other materials (commonly called PLA+) will produce a much more durable part.

In my case, I scanned, edited, and printed this part so I could use my trimmer while waiting for the $10 replacement to be delivered. Now that I think of it, $10 would have bought me an unlimited number of these off my own printer.
