A model by my 15-year-old son. This interesting and functional spinning globe ornament was made after learning how to project a two-dimensional image onto a spherical object. A map of the world being the most obvious candidate for such an assignment. So once the globe was created, what next? Creating a stand and working out how to mount the globe so it would freely spin while not falling out of place. Truth be told, it did take a few attempts to get the PETG to a suitable thickness such that it was flexible enough to fit the globe but not so loose that it fell out. Please note that should you make this out of another material, such as PLA you might want to make adjustments to the thickness of the globe holder.   You will find two .gcode files, one for the globe and one for the holder. This so you can make adjustments and choose different colours if you so wish.  PETG was used for no other reason than availability and colour of filament.   Should you wish to make changes or use a different material you will also find matching .3mf files that contain the parts. The two halves of the globe need to be glued together so please be careful using superglue in case it spills and discolours the plastic.   Please leave comments if you have questions or suggestions on how to improve this idea.
