Shelf for holding 3D Printer Filament. Easily holds 55 spools. With a monthly subscription to MakerGeeks for printer filament, I quickly found myself overrun with filament stacked everywhere. My son just so happened to need a woodshop project for school but I didn't want to take any chances he would have problems getting the angles right so I printed shelf brackets to keep everything aligned. I also wanted the shelves to be pinned and glued in place so I created a jig to help with drilling the dowel holes in the uprights. You can make one whatever height you want, I made mine 6 feet tall. I found 1x8x12's to be the cheapest option at Lowe's and bought 4 of them cut in half at the store.
Materials needed:
(4) 1x8x12's
3/8 inch dowel
Glue
24 screws
12 shelf braces (printed)
1 jig (printed)
Cut 1 board in half (uprights)
Rip the other 3 boards and cut into 3 foot lengths
Starting a couple of inches of the bottom, Mark 12" increments for the shelf brackets on each upright
