Square Type Steam Engine

Square type of steam engine consists a cuboid piston sleeve while the piston itself is a cylindrical in shape. The job of the d-slide valve in the conventional steam engine is carried out by the slots present on the shaft. This type of engine is single acting only unlike other steam engines which are double-acting.
