Steampunk Wasp features a print in place, support free, body with folding and latching leg joints and a set of wings (minimal supports required) which snap fit onto the body.AI was NOT used in the design of this 3D print model. The 3D CAD model was created using vector modelling and took 100+ hours to draw.Video Link:https://www.youtube.com/shorts/lC0pc7Kd8VgThe finished model is articulated at hips, knees, head and base of wings. (17 points of articulation in total)Alternatively, there is a static .stl provided with body and single object (wings are still separate)The articulated model has a maximum print footprint of approx. 198 x 198 mm, making it compatible with many FDM printers. The static posed model version is fully scalable and suitable for resin printing.Files included:.3mf files in mono colour (approx. 9 hours print time total), 2 colour (approx. 13 hours print time total) and 4 colour versions (approx. 45 hours print time total). [all based on 0.08mm layer height, high quality setting on Bambu P1S.].stl files for all partsStatic standing pose .stl (scalable)There is also an alternative wing design which is closed on one face, the idea being that a layer of transparent material can be used to give wing see through closed structure. For best results, use 0.08mm layer height and 'high quality' setting. (this model will really benefit from using your printer's best quality setting)I have found that PLA + type filaments are most reliable. The knee joints can sometimes be a point of failure when doing final assembly, especially if using Silk PLA which can be very brittle once fully cooled; I recommend:Counter flexing the knee joints to free them up before moving them into latch position. You can use a flat head screwdriver to push the joint into final position from the back, this takes some stress off certain regions of the joint when moving into its latched position. The 'painted' model in the model images (gold, silver with red eyes) was created by printing in bla
