Strawberry Bookmark Set

Flowers have been done. Fruits need some love too. Welcome to the strawberry, an “aggregate-accessory fruit.” The red juicy “fruit” part that we eat is not actually the fruit part. Say what? Yes, the fleshy, red edible part of the strawberry is accessory tissue that grows from the receptacle of the flower. The seeds, which are the small, hard specks on the outside are actually miniature fruits called achenes. Because the edible part is not derived from a single ovary like a true berry, but is a combination of many individual fruits(achenes) on a fleshy base, it is classified as an aggregate-accessory fruit.
