I started with the RS818+/RS818RP+ HDD Caddy stl (which seems to be the Disk Tray Type R8) and modified it to fit in my RS3617xs+, which takes the Disk Tray Type R7 - see https://www.synology.com/en-eu/products/spare_parts?search_by=category&category=HDD%20Tray%2FHolder
In short:
- moved the HDD deeper by ~8.23mm
- added 6 bottom screw holes (used dimensions from a WD reference doc)
- filled existing 4 lateral screw holes and added 4 new ones in the deeper position
- added screw enforcers and holes for 2.5" drives
- made the sides a bit taller
If you have issue with clearance due to the screws, please use countersunk screws, which will have their heads flush with the plastic surface. I have designed it to for:
- 3.5" HDDs - #6-32 screws
- 2.5" HDDs - M3 screws (e.g. M3x48mm, but don't blame me if you use too long ones and damage your HDD!)
I am still a noob in Fusion360, so this might have lots of mistakes.
