Tension Key (Adaptive Tension Ring)

This tension key is a hands free method to apply tension to yarn in order to properly crochet/knit. It is designed for those with physical impairments or lack the fine motor control required to apply tension to yarn, but can also be useful for first time learners.

Alternatives to this tension key include the widespread tension rings. Rings pose a safety concern for those with physical impairments and are often hard to use for those who have experienced stroke. Rings cannot be worn by those with certain types of arthritis as the swelling of the knuckles associated with the condition poses a serious safety risk.

This 3D print file was designed as a part of the requirements of the Assistive Technology & Home Modification course at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas - Occupational Therapy Doctorate Program. This assignment was done for a grade, however, I intend to continue development in order to perfect it.
