The wonderful bronze statue of the Boxer (or Boxer at rest or Boxer of the Baths or Boxer of the Quirinale), is a 128 cm high Greek sculpture, dated to the second half of the 4th century BC and hypothetically attributed to Lysippus (Sicion, 390/385 BC - after 306 BC). Found in Rome on a slope of the slopes of the Quirinale in March 1885, in the area that may have belonged to the Baths of Constantine.The statue is preserved at the National Roman Museum.The discovery of the statue, which took place at a depth of 6 meters, is described as follows by archaeologist Rodolfo Lanciani, at the time secretary of the Municipal Archaeological Commission:«The most important fact collected, while I was present and following the removal of the earth in which the masterpiece lay buried, is that the statue had not been thrown there, or buried in a hurry, but had been hidden and treated with the utmost care.
