I had tried a few other kitchen hook models but none of them worked particularly well for me - they were loose on the door and slid around, and the towels didn't reliably stay on them. I set out to make a hook that worked better for me, and this is the result.
A few design notes:
The curled design makes towel insertion easy and holds onto the towel securely if you want to use it in-place to clean/dry hands, but allows the towel to release easily when you want to remove it for other tasks.
The back is intentionally angled inwards towards the door to provide some spring resistance.
I've found that these hooks are pretty good at staying in place as-is, but for added sliding resistance there is a recess to attach an optional TPU grip pad (file included here). Attach it with glue - the glue goes on the hatched side, the ribbed side is what grips the door and resists side-to-side motion.
This works fine printed in PLA. PETG might be more durable under long-term use with the flexing of t
