Ivy creeps along its sides, stitching the cracks with green fingers, while the crest above the keystone—a lion with worn paws—gazes blindly down at the dry moat below. The villagers say the arch remembers everything: press your ear to its cold surface at dusk, and you might hear the phantom clatter of armor and a long-forgotten password whispered in a dead knight's voice. No one dares pass beneath it anymore. The arch plays tricks with time—some claim to see torchlight flicker within its curve during storms, briefly revealing the vanished drawbridge and raised portcullis, as if welcoming guests. But by dawn, it's just stones once more.
