This unique 3D-printable object is a perceptual puzzle and a tribute to two iconic figures: James Dean and Marilyn Monroe.
The object is a hollow cube constructed from an intricate lattice structure (a type of grid or mesh). This design utilizes a sophisticated optical illusion known as a sculptural anamorphic projection or lithophane-style technique on a three-dimensional grid.
Dual-View Illusion: When viewed from one specific angle, the silhouette of James Dean appears, seemingly suspended within the cube. When viewed from a different, precise angle (typically 90 degrees to the first), the silhouette of Marilyn Monroe becomes visible.
The Grid: The structure is not a solid print but an open, complex 3D mesh. The variation in the thickness, angle, and density of the internal grid bars is what blocks or allows light/viewing from specific directions, creating the two distinct shadow portraits.
I created this 3D object using specialized software. I can input two distinct images, spec
