I've refined this design a number of times now and this is my latest version. I wanted a magnetic filament swatch solution that allowed me to easily transfer actual printed swatches from a filament storage container, to the printer, or to a dryer, clearly indicating which filament was loaded where. In this latest version i also wanted to add the ability to have a dry or wet indicator to show when a filament was due into the dryer or had just come out of the dryer. The main solution consists of the following parts 1.A backplate piece with 3 1mm x 5mm holes on the frontside for magnets, in my case i printed in black PLA onto a carbon fibre effect plate. 2.A swatch plate with 3 holes on the rear side and 1 hole on the front side, these should be printed face side down. 3.30mm x 40mm stickers to indicate the name and vendor of the filament, i use a nimbot printer for these. 4.A "Dryed" (red fire symbol) and "Wet" (blue drip symbol) triangular markers that have a single 1mm x 5mm magnet space and attach to the front of the swatch plate The backplate pieces are secured to either a filament container, e.g. a 4L cereal container, the printer, an AMS/Ace Pro, or a Dryer. 1. The backplate 2. The swatches And a sample Swatch magnetically held on a backplate 4. Dry and Wet Symbols These magnetically stick onto the front magnet on the swatch plate, fire = recently dried, drip = needs time in the filament dryer. Here is one of the back plates secured to a 4 litre Cereal container (using double sided tape) with a coloured swatch plate on front (magnetically) Here is a backplate on an AMS/Ace Pro (or printer works too) showing the loaded colour by place a swatch plate onto the backplate. And lastly here is a swatch on a dryer indicating which filaments are being dried.
