I went looking for a 1541 style drive for my recently acquired "TheC64" Maxi system.
This is a remix from a fantastic design from "StmLord". I don't have the SD2IEC components, but I do have plenty of SSD SATA drives and USB adaptors. This is just a cheap adaptor I bought on eBay a few years ago, and is a fairly inexpensive and common component to find online.
I had to make the enclosure bigger to fit the width and length of the SSD, and add holes to the top shell for the screws to go through. I also cut a recess in the rear to accomodate the USB adaptor. Despite the top sliding closed, I wanted it to stay closed so 2mm machine screws were used, also for the front to attach. I filled in a fair bit of the front face, as I didn't have a need for that. If you need to poke LED's through, the shell is pretty thin, so a hand drill will sort that out quickly. I didn't see a need for now, but I may change that in the future with a flashing LED for one, and constant on for the other
