Thinkpad X1 Tablet Trackpoint Cap

This is a replacement trackpoint cap for the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Tablet. The original part seems to wear out very quickly to the extent the laptop becomes unusable with the trackpoint after only a few months and spares are very difficult to obtain... For some obscure reason Lenovo refuse to supply spares outside of the US and there support service doesn't seem to know where they can be obtained.

So after going around in circles with Lenovo's support for over a month and facing a situation where I would be forced to use the slow and cumbersome touchpad instead (sorry, I hate touchpads with a passion, mine is disabled) I decided to make my own replacement. So far it works well and has restored my Thinkpad to normal operation. Enjoy!
