My take on a third hand!

There are two parts a link and a link base that can be screwed down to what ever you like (3mm hole). I've mounted my arms on a square metal tube. 60x60mm I've included the end caps I made for it.

For grippers I use some alligator clips.

Note that I use just 0.1 mm tolerance for the link. Let me know if you need a lower tolerance version for your printer.
