Scaled Up
Had enough fun with the smaller ones for "the boys" that I decided to make a full-size version for the "grups". Works best in about shoulder-deep water, use your index finger to push the torpedo.
Videos coming as soon as my new fancy-pants phone arrives.
New Profile: Slightly more nose-heavy than the smaller toy, and the twist of the fins is reversed to allow a right-handed American football-style throw (also: "curveball" technique works). The nose-heavy nature means it doesn't tend upward as much, leading to no hydrodynamic stalling and thus a more continuous glide. (Old ones would "stall & sink" as opposed to "slowing and gliding")
New Density:After reviewing my extremely suspect buoyancy calcs, I re-examined things and realized that by simply making it larger, I would increase the water fraction and approach neutral buoyancy the easy way (by being mostly water). As a result this one is about 3.5% negatively buoyant, as opposed to 4-5% for the scaled ones, it doesn't seem
