The battery cover on these Traceable Thermometers is not great.
First, it does not reliably pop out when you turn it.
Second, there is nothing to grab it by to pull it out for when it does not pop out. Shaking and tapping gently doesn't work reliably, either. Not that you would want to be tapping these things in the first place.
Third, because of the first two things, people will often try to continue turning it past the 45 degrees or so, which shears off the two itty bitty tabs that hold it in place, rendering the cover useless. My lab has *several* of these held in place by tape only.
This model solves that. It doesn't require tools to remove and can be pulled easily with the tab. I feel like an SLA (resin) printer might do better with the tiny nibs than an FDM, but my Prusa i3 handles it well.
Version 0.2 adds the extra ridge at the top to grip by. The original worked well enough with bare hands, but they felt a bit slippery when trying to handle them with nitrile gl
