The original switch is only mounted with one screw so it can twist easily. The original design also requires a separate part to hit the switch that is mounted on the Y carriage. This eliminates the need for that part, which can reduce the mass of the Y assembly a tiny bit.
The main benefit of this mount is that the switches mounting is more robust and it allows you to adjust the stop. Yes you can use an offset in the firmware, but this still requires the move to hit the switch. In my case since I am using clamps that hold the glass down I wanted to limit the travel so it could not hit these clamps even when homing if the X and Z are in the position to hit them. However, if your not using clamps like this, you can still adjust this mount for maximum Y travel and adjust it to not need an offset home position.
My switch had two different size holes, so I used two different size mounting screws. The mounting bolts for the bracket are M3 and I used some washers to spread the pressure si
