Turntable Motor Module

One of the first things I printed when I got my first 3D printer a couple of months ago was Bribro12's elegant turntable design. (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3723618)

I recently picked up Arduino-powered electronics and wanted to have a go at motorizing bribros design. (since the crank is threaded)
It's designed around the 5V DC 28BYJ stepper motor.
Unfortunately it turns out it doesn't have quite enough torque at the 3:1 ratio, it does run at higher voltage, but gets hot when running continuously.
I'm posting as is, if anyone requests, I could change the shaft length of the pinion and the gear geometry to a more manageable 2:1 ratio.
