So, I really liked the design, but I wanted something bigger that I could just fidget with using both hands. I scaled it up about 240% (using Simplify3D I used the manual drag to scale to the approximate size that I wanted). I had some minor issues with assembly because the holes in the ring body didn't scale equally to the size of the pins and gears. To make it all work, I used heat shrink to increase the diameter of the pins for a better fit in the holes of the ring body. They were still a little loose so I used some UV cure cyanoacrylate. I included a picture showing the UV glue under the UV light.

Note that there is an extra spacer ring that I added to fill the gap between the movable ring gear and the retainer ring and glued the 2 piece
