This is a old japanese "karakuri" automata mechanized doll "TYAHAKOBI-NINGYOU"

As for this machine, how to make is written in "KIKOUZUI" published in the about 18th century. So it is thought of in older days an original having been made.
This doll carries the teacup which made tea until before of the visitor and performs returning movement automatically to the starting point after having received it.

how to move
1 put it in the flat place.
2 roll up a elastic rubber drum.
3 put a tea-cup on the tray.
4 doll advances.
5 doll stops when take away a tea-cup.
6 doll change direction and come back when put a tea-cup on the tray once again.
7 doll stops when take away a tea-cup.
