The Type 730 is a Chinese-designed Closed-In Weapon System (CIWS). The system is based on a seven-barreled, 30 mm Gatling-type rotary machine gun, integrated into a rotating turret and equipped with radar and electro-optical fire control systems. The rate of fire is approximately 5,800 rounds per minute, and the effective range is 3 kilometers.[1] The system is available in both a land-based and a naval variant.
Entered into service in 2003, the system has been adopted not only by the Chinese People's Liberation Army, but also by the Indonesian and Pakistani navies.
