This traditional flying disk is the same as the one used in the original “The Day the Earth Stood Still” and was used as a prop in my showreel https://youtu.be/Kfw0-xJy2Po and my YouTube video https://youtu.be/MENpbfTeKBE.

The UFO is 140mm diameter and may be scaled to suit your requirements. Print using about 15% infill, no supports. Either print the model using silver filament or paint it in silver/chrome.

If using this UFO in a stop-motion retro movie, then suspend the model using thick fishing line. Attach the fishing line using shiny clear sticky-tape. Make sure that your lighting catches the fishing line and sticky-tape. You could film your model against a rear-projection movie, a scale model or even a painted piece of cardboard.

The UFO was originally modelled in Maya (obj file). The higher resolution model was modelled in ViaCAD using the original model as a template.
