This is my entry to The Generate Quadcopter Challenge ( https://grabcad.com/challenges/the-generate-quadcopter-challenge ). To optimize the shape of the frame i assumed the following: 1. Forces: - Elecrtonics 42g = 0,41202N - Motor thrust 120g = 1,1772N (per motor) - Wires 25g = 0,24525N - Battery 47g = 0,46107N - Payload 250g = 2,4525N - Motors 26g = 0,25506N First i divided electronics weight on half (one hafl to main electonics and the other to motor speed controlers). - 0,41202N/2 = 0,20601N Next I divided wires weight equally between two parts of electronics and motors. - 0,24525N/3 = 0,08175N And the forces i used in simulation was: - Main Electronics = 0,20601N + 0,08175N = 0,28776N - Elecrtonic Speed Controlers (4 pcs.) = 0,20601N + 0,08175N = 0,28776N - Motors (4 pcs.) = 0,25506N + 0,08175N = 0,33681N - Motor thrust = 1,1772N (per motor) - Battery = 0,46107N - Payload = 2,4525N 2. LC1 - Flying - area of the thrust - fixed (only the wieght of the components) 3. LC2 - Flying - surfaces of payload mounting - fixed - the wieght of components and the full thrust (it's more than just a payload) 4. LC3 - Standing - no payload (250g) and without thrust. On the surface of thrust i had to accept the minimum foce (0,01N), because when i put a zero (0N) simulation failed. I've decided to do two load cases of fly because none separately does not reflect well the reality. Additionally i assumed extra space for mounting additional protection of the payload, but it was not simulated because it was required an additional 3 Load Cases (6 total), in which case the simulation failed. As above, I established the force of 0,01N on this extra surface to keep it after optimization. However, I think it's still pretty tough to move the payload. The frame after optimization is a compromise of weight to the possibility of printing. You can go down with the weight but I'm not sure if it can be printed then or will not break while assembly of the other components. I was not entirely hap
