My submission to the challenge. Please note, I had great difficulty getting my actual model to work with SimScale - as a result this model features no extrusions in the design, and only a first order mesh. My "final" model features an extrusion for the "bumper", rectangular extrusions for the horizontal and vertical beams, and extruded tubes for the stiffeners. By using the extrusions the weight for this product can be cut by about 30% without sacrificing much stiffness. Solid model mass (submission): 388.58 lbs. Extruded based model mass: 271.37 lbs The Extruded model file and step file have been included for reference. I didn't have time to build it to scale or paint it." - Back To The Future, Dr. Emmett Brown Note: Load areas P1, P2, and P3 were added to the model as 0.02 mm raised rectangular areas on the bumper plate (with 0.02 mm x 0.02 mm chamfers on both sides to make SimScale happy). While the presence of these "plates" change the numerical answers, in reality they would not make any significant difference. Heisenberg wins again.
