This universal instrument handle was designed by remixing the upper portion of the Lee Case Trimmer Cutter Grip Handle by olincoles. The design has been validated to fit Welch Allyn and Heine instrument handles for ophthalmology/optometry. Similar sized handles are also used by Welch Allyn in ENT and primary care.
This design was created so that a health professional can keep their instrument handle on the desk without the handle actually touching the desk. In times of COVID, this is desirable. Additionally, this design is used to prevent the handle from falling over while it is out of the charge cradle. This is also helpful in that, in ophthalmology for example, health professionals do not need to reach across the patient to access the instrument handles from the chair stands, thereby allowing greater social distancing to take place during exams.
I recommend printing the design with 4 shells and an infill of 20% for longevity in the exam room. A post has been placed on the bo
