I was looking for a spool holder to replace the cheap one that came with my printer. I find the 3D printed planetary gears extremely fascinating and wanted a spool holder that would utilize these gears while still being able to sit on top of my Lack table stand I have my printer on. I however wasn't able to find exactly what I was looking for so I set out to design my own!

You will need some additional hardware to put this together, but nothing crazy. You will need 4 m3 nuts, and 4 m3 screws. You could use anywhere from 10mm to 15mm screws. these hold the cross braces to the spool holder sides, I suppose you could also just glue them there if you wanted as well.

You don't need the gear loosening bit, but I found it handy to get the gears rolling smoothly initially using an electric drill, not to mention it was a lot of fun! The loosening bit will work with any drill that will grab onto a 1/4" bit.
