Universal Protective Aerosol Can Cap

It happens all the time: the protective cap for an aerosol can gets lost, cracked, or damaged beyond use. While it may seem like a minor inconvenience, that cap serves an important purpose.

It protects the spray nozzle from being damaged, clogged, or accidentally knocked off. It also helps prevent the can from being inadvertently discharged—something that can be messy, wasteful, or potentially dangerous depending on what is inside the can.

This is a universal-style replacement cap designed to be easily modified to fit nearly any aerosol can.

Sizing Instructions

To customize the cap for your aerosol can:

Measure the diameter of the can directly beneath the retaining lip that normally holds the original cap in place. See the reference photo for the correct measurement location.
Add approximately 2 mm to that diameter. You may have to play with this a bit for a good fit.
In your 3D modeling or slicer software, scale the outer diameter of this cap to match that final number.
