This thing replaces the nosepiece of a cheap USB microscope. It holds the blade of a knife in perfect position so the microscope can be used to inspect the cutting edge. It is an invaluable addition to whatever sharpening method you use. You can actually see what is going on at a microscopic level with your cutting edge.
The sample images are of a sharp kitchen knife, a razor blade, and an inexpensive micro-serrated knife.
I have included the fusion360 file so you can mod it to suit your needs. Another useful variation could be made to inspect printer nozzles.
We talked about this and a whole lot more on the **3D Printing Today podcast** available on iTunes, and wherever you get your podcasts
