Check out my blog where I have published an article about the design process for this and other 3d printed objects! https://3dshapeengineering.com/2016/07/09/how-to-design-a-functioning-object-to-3d-print/
I made this kitchen rack for hanging small pans, and other kitchen utensils. I used 1/2" metal conduit (can be found at your local hardware store for pretty cheap), and cut it down to the desired length. I would reccomend printing out 1 holder for each foot then print another for the end of the bar. (ie. print 3 for a 2 foot bar.)
The hooks clip securely to the conduit bar and are 6mm wide. If you want to hand things with smaller holes, I would reccomend picking up some 1" key rings to fit smaller things on the hooks.
Each holder takes 3 #6x5/8" countersunk wood screws.
I have included the freecad files for the hook and the holder if you want to modify them in any way!
