The Vernier Excavator: No More Dead Batteries
A clever, automated solution to the world’s most annoying calipers.
We’ve all been there: you finish a project, carefully tuck your digital calipers back into their case, and accidentally nudge the slide. Because most calipers auto-power on when moved—but don't always power off—you’re greeted by a dead battery the next time you need an accurate measurement.
The Vernier Excavator was born out of that exact frustration. It’s a custom-built docking station designed to ensure your tools are actually off when you walk away.
How It Works
When you place your calipers into the custom holder, the system triggers a motorized "excavator" arm. The arm lowers specifically to press the OFF button, guaranteeing your battery is preserved for your next session.
Universal Design: The "bucket" position is fully adjustable, making it compatible with a wide range of caliper brands and sizes.
Set and Forget: Simply dock your tool, and the Arduino-controlled arm
