This mount is meant to help you scan those more difficult models on the Basic Turntable. While you can rotate to orientate the Moose scanner vertially with the tripod. This method creates 2 problems, first it becomes unstable because it offsets the center of gravity. Second, it creates a huge strain on the ball joint, so your scanner wont hold it's angle for long.
