Very early prototype for Red Pop

Using Makerbot I was able to quickly create a kind of physical sketch of the idea; something to hold in our hands so we could get a sense of how it feels, what size it needed to be etc. Plus it was something to use as we developed the idea further.

Yes the idea of rapid prototyping has been around for ages but for me, as well as having the ability to make finished objects, Makerbot and machines like them allow me to make real the things that had previously existed as pencil on paper.

Encouraged by Bre from Makerbot I've put this original model up here because I wanted to share how having the ability to literally hold the beginnings of an idea in your hands can then inspire you to take things further.
