This is a casing for a combination of an 8x8x8 LED light cube as sold by Hobby Components (I'm not affiliated with them or anything!) with an IV-22 VFD tube clock, the PCB for which is sold by an ebay seller called Monjibox Nixie (same!). The led light cube has been hacked to run a little dimmer than the stock unit, and is hooked up to the VFD clock power supply via a buck converter to drop the voltage from 12V to 5V. The large 'base' LEDs of the light cube have been changed to wired, smaller LEDs that have been incorporated into the colons of the VFD clock, to tie the whole thing together. The light cube is arduino powered and comes with a demo animation as default, or can be programmed to display custom messages or animation sequences.
