Vicious CHAMP A simple two piece CHAMP design that provides a cam clamping force to secure to the ISS handrail with a simple lever action. Advantages • Two piece design – It doesn’t get much simpler • Possibly built as complete assembly - depends on 3D printer capability • Maximum envelope usage - Uses the full 1” perimeter from the rail to maximize strength and stiffness • Sparse or custom internal support structure – More efficient than traditional cored structure • Full length cam lock – Provides secure clamping force along the entire CHAMP length • Detent lock lever – Provides an additional snap to secure the lever closed if needed • Easy lock dial in adjustment – Simple model changes to adjust the activation force loads • 2 inch length - Allows multiple adjacent CHAMPS for increased load capability • Flush / recessed lever – The lever doesn’t protrude from the CHAMP, preventing inadvertent activation • Lever release with device secured to rail – The CHAMP lever can be released with a device bolted to the rail • Lever activation with adjacent CHAMPs – Lever actuation can be done without interfering with other CHAMPs • Double taper pivot – Keeps the lever aligned with the main body without features that would require support structure Notes: • No FEA has been performed – I have no access to this capability
