Walmart ReliOn Humidifier Filter Bracket

The generic replacement filters I bought for this humidifier don't have the metal grid down the middle that the originals did, so they gradually move out of position and more air flows around them than through. This design eliminates that issue, although it does make it more difficult to replace the filter as well. At the very least, the humidifier now seems to be emptying its reservoir more quickly with the fan set to low than it used to do set to high. Setting it to high just seems to make the motor struggle and not result in any additional airflow since it is now limited by how much air it can pull through the filter. I expect it would help if I replace or at least demineralize the filter, but I'm kind of busy designing parts for other household items around here. ;-)
