This is a replacement lower door hinge component for a Whirlpool refrigerator. The original hinge uses two small plastic pieces responsible for pulling the door closed. A friend asked me to recreate this part, as it cannot be purchased anywhere. I modeled the replacement based on the broken original pieces, adding small modifications to make the part more durable. The printed hinge has now been installed in his fridge for over a month and works perfectly.Recommended print settings: 100% infill and ABS material. After printing, it is very important to lightly smooth the “teeth” or the contact surfaces where both hinge pieces meet. I used a small brush with a bit of acetone—gently brushing the surface and quickly blowing air to speed up evaporation. This created a very smooth finish.If someone has the proper equipment and experience, vapor smoothing with acetone is also an excellent option and provides an even more uniform surface.
