A compact sitting wolf figure designed specifically for testing FDM printer capabilities. At 5 cm tall, it prints fast enough for regular calibration checks while providing meaningful feedback on your printer's performance. The model combines a recognizable shape with practical test features. The geometry challenges common printer weaknesses—overhangs, layer consistency, surface finish—while staying printable without supports on most machines. What it tests: Aggressive overhang angles (tail approaching 90°, snout around 80°, body segments) Layer adhesion and Z-axis accuracy through the segmented body and neck Surface finish on curves and angled surfaces Fine detail capture (facial features, fur texture) Overall dimensional accuracy First layer adhesion with the flat paw base Print specs: 50mm tall Uses approximately 9 grams of filament Print time: 30-40 minutes (depending on settings and printer) Single piece, no assembly Prints without supports Works with 0.4mm nozzles and typical layer heights Recommended use: Try it when testing new filament, after making printer adjustments, or when dialing in a new material profile. PLA gives the cleanest results for detail evaluation. PETG is useful for checking stringing and cooling performance. The model works across most standard FDM setups. Good as a functional test piece that doesn't look like a test piece when you're done.
