I made this a while ago and have been meaning to upload.
This is a marker I use quite often. It allows a metal ruler/straightedge to be locked in position and so lets me mark reliably repeatable distances and a 45-degree miter. The images give an idea of how I use it. Not rocket science :)
Besides the ruler (of course), the hardware I used were: 1 M6x16 (max18mm) hex head bolt and 1 M6 threaded insert that you see in one of the photos.
I made an animation of how things go together, not sure it uploaded. See it here: https://youtu.be/VSBwd_EsJK0
The RULER TEST part is exactly that: before you print out the whole thing, print that to see if you need to scale anything (XY should be the same, of course, or your 45-degree side will be off).
In my case, it's 14.7mm wide and 0.2mm high. But that's my printer and my slicer settings.
Yours are sure to be different.
Happy printing.
