X52 Center detent

Update 2023-02-10 Complete redesign:

This mod replaces the original detents at 20% and 70% with a detent at 50%
I haven’t used my X52 for 2-3 years now and I didn’t feel the detent at neutral anymore from my previous mod. Maybe the plastic in the old design deformed over time so I made a new solution.

A new cam curve is added to the existing curve with a grove at neutral. Existing “punch” is replaced with a lower one to compensate for the thicker cam curve. The detent feeling isn’t very strong but I think it´s enough.

The original punch springs was only compressed at the two old detents. In this design it’s compressed the hole time except at neutral. This means some extra friction and possible relaxation of the springs over time so it’s best to leave it at neutral when not used.
The difficult part in this mod is to get rid of the old lubricant. It´s very sticky and you need to get it out of the square hole for the punch. I used “Muc-off drive train cleaner”.
