Yokai Netsuke

A yokai netsuke is a miniature Japanese sculpture, carved from materials like ivory or wood, that depicts a creature from Japanese folklore (yokai). These tiny toggles were both functional art—securing items to a kimono's sash—and protective charms, with the yokai's fearsome nature believed to ward off evil spirits.
