Yumbox replacement latch

Yumboxes are a neat little lunch kit for kids, with one major downfall: their weak latches.

Our boys (5 and 3 at the time of design) have each broken the latches of more than one Yumbox. As these boxes are rather expensive, I set out to design a replacement latch that I could print. The problem being, how on earth do I secure the new latch into the Yumbox when I am done?

This design makes use of 2mm diameter finishing nails as the "axle" or pivot, and a slot in the latch design that allows "extending" the cut-down nails into the box receiving holes (in the lid). This design was chosen because the only way to print the nails into place would have required laying the latch down parallel to the print bed which would make the design FAR less resilient in use (i.e. the layer lines would be in the worst-case orientation).
Be sure to use stainless steel finishing nails, or pins of 2mm diameter as they fit perfectly in the Yumbox lid. The ideal length of the
