I recently switched out my i3's 5mm threaded rod for an 8mm lead screw. Although I could get by with the original acrylic part, I was missing a bearing.
After messing around with other models that didn't quite fit the bill, I designed these new end-caps to hold my F608Z flanged bearings. I also decided to integrate a keeper in the print to hold the 8mm smooth rods in place.
I built the model in OpenSCAD based almost entirely on the frame DXF found here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:39889
One of the screw locations is different on my i3, so that was modified from the DXF, but otherwise it's basically the same as the DXF.
Obviously, you'll need two of these. Because of the integrated keeper, you can't just print two of them as is. One needs to be mirrored, which I was able to do in Repetier-Host by scaling X by -1.
